Grams and Kilograms
This is my lesson that I did for TIE blog 2. I taught the students by using voicethread for this lesson. My lesson was over grams and kilograms. I mainly taught the students about grams and kilograms and had them weigh objects to see if they were heavier or lighter than the weight of a gram and a kilogram. The voicethread did seem to work for me in my lesson. The only thing that was difficult was that I did not have enough computers or time for all of the students to have a response. So what I did was put students into groups of five and have one student be the reporter and come up to the computer and report what they observed as they weighed their objects. The only thing that I would do different if I taught another lesson using voicethread again; is to give the students days to work on a project instead of one hour.
1.How can you change this activity to make it suitable for older students ?
2.How can you use this lesson in other subject areas besides math and science?
Christinas voicethread was very cool. It was over the dustbowl and had great pictures!
Margos voicethread was nice also. I love learning about plants. Her blog was very neat.
Roszellas blog looked so nice. I thought that she showed great organizational skills.
Awesome learning developed

TIE 1
My lesson is to be over grams and kilograms.
Story Board
Here is my Blooms and my affordances worksheets.
This is my Lesson Plan for this activity.
Mathematics
(2.9) Measurement. The
student directly compares the attributes of length, area, weight/mass, and
capacity, and uses comparative language to solve problems and answer questions.
The student selects and uses nonstandard units to describe length, area,
capacity, and weight/mass. The student recognizes and uses models that
approximate standard units ( from both SI, also known as metric, and customary
systems) of length, weight/mass, capacity, and time. The student is expected
to:
(D) select a non-standard
unit of measure such as beans or marbles to determine the weight/mass of a
given object.
Science
(2.4) Scientific investigation and reasoning. The
student uses age-appropriate tools and models to investigate the natural world.
The student is expected to:
(A) collect, record, and compare information
using tools, including computers, hand lenses, rulers, primary balances,
plastic beakers, magnets, collecting nets, notebooks, and safety goggles;
timing devices, including clocks and stopwatches; weather instruments such as
thermometers, wind vanes, and rain gauges; and materials to support
observations of habitats of organisms such as terrariums and aquariums; and
(B) measure and compare organisms and objects
using non-standard units that approximate metric units.

What I Have Learned So Far From PDS#2
I have been practicing much more by using voicethreads and blogs since class on Thursday. I have watched the voice thread "Life Coping Skills 101" and have posted my first comments on it!!! It was really easy!! The penguin picture belongs to me so click on it and see what I said if you want to! I also practiced using Google Docs in class today. I really am starting to feel like I know how to use technology!

Technology Integration Experience Thoughts
The first video thread that I watched was of Mrs. Lees first grade class. This video thread was used for social studies and Mrs. Lee had her student tell stories about their families and what they do with their families. This kind of activity will be useful for my second grade class. I also enjoyed Courtney Barringtons video thread. It had a kindergarten class talking about what they are thankful for.
